At Nat Herbal Clinic, we combine centuries of African herbal wisdom with personalized care to help sickle cell patients and families live fuller, healthier lives.
We don't just treat crises โ we help you prevent them. Our holistic approach treats the whole person, not just the symptoms.
Herbal medicine has managed sickle cell disease in Africa for generations. We bring this ancient wisdom together with modern safety and dosing standards.
No two patients are the same. Every patient receives an individually tailored herbal treatment plan designed around their specific triggers, history, and goals.
We work alongside your conventional medical team, not against them. Our approach is designed to safely complement your existing treatment.
We educate and empower parents and caregivers, not just patients. When the family understands SCD, outcomes improve for everyone.
Our primary goal is reducing the frequency and severity of crises through lifestyle guidance, nutrition counselling, and targeted herbal therapy.
All herbal prescriptions are carefully monitored for safety and interactions. We review and adjust your plan at every follow-up visit.

Knowledge is the first step to better management. Here is everything you need to understand about SCD in plain language.
Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) is an inherited blood disorder where red blood cells become rigid and shaped like a sickle or crescent moon, instead of the normal round, flexible shape. These abnormal cells struggle to flow freely through blood vessels, causing blockages, pain, and damage to organs over time.
SCD is passed from parents to children through genes. A child must inherit the sickle cell gene from BOTH parents to develop the disease. If only one gene is inherited, the child is a carrier (sickle cell trait) โ they are generally healthy but can pass the gene to their own children.
Ghana has one of the highest rates of sickle cell disease in the world. Up to 2% of babies in Ghana are born with SCD, and approximately 20โ30% of Ghanaians carry the sickle cell trait. This makes access to quality SCD care critically important for Ghanaian families.
African herbal medicine has supported SCD patients for generations. Specific medicinal plants have demonstrated anti-sickling properties, anti-inflammatory effects, and immune-boosting benefits. At Nat Herbal Clinic, we harness these properties safely and systematically to reduce pain crises, support the immune system, and improve overall quality of life โ alongside conventional medical care.
Early diagnosis and consistent management dramatically improve quality of life for SCD patients. Don't wait for a crisis โ begin your care plan today.
Go to hospital immediately if you or your child experiences:

Discover our personalised herbal approach to sickle cell management.
A structured, safe, and personalized herbal medicine process designed around each patient's unique needs.
Your journey begins with a thorough consultation with Dr. Cobbinah. We review your full medical history, current medications, crisis frequency, diet, lifestyle, and personal goals. This foundation ensures your treatment plan is truly built for you โ not a generic formula.
Based on your assessment, Dr. Cobbinah selects specific medicinal herbs with documented anti-sickling, anti-inflammatory, and immune-supporting properties. Dosages, preparation methods, and timing are all tailored to your body and lifestyle. You receive a clear written prescription card.
Herbal treatment works best alongside the right food and habits. We provide a personalized nutrition guide using locally available Ghanaian foods, daily hydration targets, safe exercise guidance, and advice on avoiding common crisis triggers like dehydration and cold temperatures.
We review your progress at 2 weeks, then monthly. At every visit, we assess changes in crisis frequency, pain levels, energy, and overall wellbeing. Your plan is adjusted as you improve. We also stay in close communication with your hospital team where needed.
We believe an informed patient is an empowered patient. At every stage, we explain what each herb does, why you are taking it, and what to expect. For children, we work closely with parents to ensure the whole family is confident and prepared.
Each herb is selected for its documented therapeutic properties. All prescriptions are safe, monitored, and adjusted per patient.
